Enabling better brain health

At huru we are passionate about improving brain health. We all have different experiences; some have family members with dementia, some with Epilepsy, some with sleep disorders, others faced challenges with mental health, and others simply frustrated at not fully utilising their brain. Our top criteria for joining the team is that you are passionate about the mission. We are engineers, scientists and medical professionals, spread across Europe, Asia and the USA, although our home is in Bristol, UK.

Our Story

Passionate about finding solutions to improve brain health, driven by their own experiences of dementia and stroke, Ed and Josh founded huru in 2021.

By combining the latest microchip fabrication technology breakthroughs with emerging neuroscience research they started developing hardware and software and trialing what could work.

Soon after building their first product they partnered with Neurowyzer, a Singapore based neuroscience company pioneering in digital brain health assessments.

Together along with funding from the European Regional Development Fund, partnerships with Plymouth university and accelerators linked with University College London they are translating cutting edge research into products that improve brain health.

Meet The Team

Josh Eggleston

Co-Founder - Commercial, Strategy and Operations

On a mission to create products with a purpose, Josh has seen first-hand the challenges of stroke and mental conditions. He believes the time is now to use technology to change that.

Ed Shelton

Co-Founder - Designer, Engineer and Product manager

Ed is a hardware and complex systems expert, passionate about delivering deep technologies to market with great user experience. Ed's family experience of cognitive decline and dementia gives him some insight into the challenges of living with neurological disorders.

Dr Mithila Mahesh

Clinical Psychologist

Mithila did her Doctorate in Clinical Psychology (DClinPsy) at Newcastle University in the UK. She then worked at Cambridge University Hospitals in the Neuropsychology Department before returning back home to Singapore to work with Neurowyzr and huru, before recently relocating to the US.

Dr Prem Pillay

Chief Medical Officer - Neurosurgeon - MBBS (SINGAPORE), FRCS (EDINBURGH), FAMS (NEUROSURGERY), FRCS CANADA (NEUROSURGERY), FACS (USA)

Medical Director, Singapore Brain-Spine-Nerves Center. Formerly Director of the Brain Center and Head of Neurosurgery at SGH (Singapore General Hospital). Formerly Chief Resident in Neurosurgery, The Cleveland Clinic Foundation, USA. Dr Prem's work has been portrayed on the BBC, CNN , CNA (channel news Asia ) and in Times Magazine. He has over a hundred publications and presentations in major Neuro journals and conferences worldwide.

Effie Wang

Psychologist

Effie specialises in understanding human thought processes through administering psychological assessments, data collection and research.

Richard Wheatley

Advisor - Systems Engineer and Programme manager

Richard is driven by the challenge of translating complex systems and clinical research into functional easy to use products.
